The Colorado company highest up on the Fortune 500, Dish Network, has been looking for a way to bounce back from the downturn. It's launched a shopping spree, of sorts. Dish and its sister company, Echostar, recently bought the troubled video rental chain Blockbuster and Move Networks, a streaming video company, as well as DBSB North America and Hughes Communications, two owners of valuable broadband spectrum. CPR’s Pat Mack asked Bloomberg News reporter Alex Sherman what Ergen and Dish are up to.
Postscript: Dish has announced it’s going to offer a bundle of phone, video and Internet service in Colorado. If that’s successful, it could be rolled out nationally. Smartphone service might be added as well.
