A few months ago, we brought you the story of George Melton. He’s from Fort Collins, and he works in Iraq for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. For the past two years, Melton’s helped Iraqi farmers and ranchers form cooperatives. That's where a group of farmers join together to, say, process wool, and then share the profits. Melton says cooperatives enable Iraqi farmers to own part of a business, which they couldn't do in the past. He says the cooperatives also help with counter-insurgency efforts. Melton is on leave for a few weeks and came by our studio. He spoke with Ryan Warner about the cooperatives and about one of the farmers he's helped.
