Colorado lawmakers and friends remembered Ken Gordon during a memorial service on Tuesday in Denver.
Gordon served in the state legislature for 14 years in both in the House and Senate. He died after suffering a heart attack on December 22, 2013, at the age of 63.
Gordon, a Democrat, held several leadership positions in the legislature and was a passionate supporter of campaign finance reform.
Most recently, he led Clean Slate Now, a nonprofit aimed at educating voters about money in politics, and had filed to run for Secretary of State in 2014.
“He was always respectful about others' points of view and I will miss him,” Attorney General John Suthers, a Republican, said after Gordon's passing.
"Most people get into politics for the right reasons but politics can have a corrupting influence,” Jenny Flanagan of Common Cause said. “Ken always stuck to his principles."
