Nick Petrie used to be a full-time home inspector and part-time novelist. Today, leaky roofs and faulty electrical outlets are no longer part of his life. That's because Petrie is the author of a series of novels featuring an ex-Marine named Peter Ash. Petrie tells Colorado Matters that his latest novel, “Light It Up,” finds Ash himself in Colorado and enmeshed in the marijuana industry. The story was supposed to be set in Detroit, but it never took off. Petrie says he kept writing the same 10,000 words over and over again -- a sure sign that something's wrong.
