Otis Taylor’s Haunting Songs About The African-American Experience
The songs on the Boulder blues singer’s new album, “Fantasizing About Being Black,” are haunting vignettes about the African-American experience. In one song, a black man in an interracial relationship knows he has to leave the country or he will be killed. “I’ve taken all of my thoughts about the history of racial injustice and created a musical interpretation for modern times,” Taylor says of the album, his 15th.
Taylor spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
