When a painting of a laughing man went up for auction in England three years ago, it was attributed to a follower of Rembrandt. Turns out the painting was actually by the Dutch Master himself. It’s now on loan to the Denver Art Museum. Curator Timothy Standring brought it here. The painting which is called “Rembrandt Laughing” is oil on copper. It’s small - about the size of a sheet of paper. Standring says he first saw the piece at a private gallery in London and he was blown away.
