Dean Richard Krugman, MD, has led the University of Colorado School of Medicine for 24 years, including two years when he was acting dean. He plans to retire in 2014.

Richard Krugman made the announcement last month. He’s led the University of Colorado Medical School for 24 years, setting the record for the longest-serving medical school dean in the state.

In that time, CU's medical school moved from a small building downtown to the sprawling Anschutz campus in Aurora.

Krugman says that move is one of his biggest accomplishments as dean, and ushered in a new era for the medical school.
