Acid attacks on women are the subject of a new documentary from some Denver filmmakers. “Saving Face” just won an Oscar. It focuses on Pakistan, where there are about a hundred reports a year of acid attacks. It’s thought many more go unreported. The film follows Dr. Mohammed Jawad as he travels to Pakistan from his home in London and does reconstructive surgery on the women’s faces--where the acid is often thrown. There will be a screening of the film on March 7th at the Denver Film Center. It will also air on HBO on March 8th. CPR’s Andrea Dukakis spoke with one of the filmmakers, Daniel Junge.
