The Venice Biennale Shines Its Bright Light On A Colorado Artist
Sculptor Senga Nengudi has made cutting-edge art in Colorado Springs for the past 40 years. Now in her 70s, she's seeing her career take off. The pieces she creates often involve things like pantyhose and other everyday objects, and it has been collected by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, among others.
She is one of just 17 American artists invited to participate in this year's Venice Biennale, a prestigious international arts festival. We spoke to her about the recognition, and what it's like to participate.
