It was a big win for parents whose kids have dyslexia in the Boulder Valley schools when the district adopted a new new literacy program that aims to provide more resources for dyslexic students -- a disorder that causes the brain to rearrange letters making it difficult to read and manipulate language.
Michael Bucey, the vice president for the parent group that convinced Boulder Valley to adopt the changes, tells Colorado Matters how he learned his kids had dyslexia, his dissatisfaction with the district’s approach to testing for the disorder, and how the new program can help.
