The owners of the Strater Hotel in Durango are meticulous about keeping it authentically Victorian. Built in the late 1800's, the establishment turns one hundred and twenty five years-old this year. In the early days, it was island of comfort and civility in the rough and tumble southwest corner of the state. Now there are rooms named after famous people, like Louis L'Amour, or local pioneers.
