Critics say zero-tolerance discipline policies in Colorado schools have gone too far. They were put in place after Columbine and other high profile cases of youth violence. This year, the legislature created a task force to find a way to bring more balance to discipline laws. The task will report its recommendations in October. Marco Nunez is with the Denver nonprofit Padres Y Jovenes Unidos, Parents and Youth United. He also serves on the task force. He told CPR's Ryan Warner of some examples where the punishment didn’t fit the crime.
