Colorado Matters is taking our show to the Western Slope in June and we're looking for a local solo musician to spotlight during our live show.

We've launched the Solo on the Slope contest -- to find someone west of Glenwood Canyon whose talent deserves more exposure.

The winner of the Solo on the Slope contest will perform in front of a live audience at The Avalon Theatre in Grand Junction and will later be heard across the state on Colorado Public Radio's airwaves.

To enter:

  • Videotape yourself performing a song. Along with the performance, tell us a little about yourself and what you love about living on the Western Slope.
  • Post the video to YouTube and email the YouTube link to [email protected]. Or email the video to [email protected].
  • The deadline for entries is May 10 at noon.

Don’t worry about the production quality of your video. Tape it with your cell phone, in your living room, on your desk -- it doesn’t matter. Just have fun and show off your talent!

Host Ryan Warner will announce the winner May 17 . You must be free much of the day of the show on June 21.
