For 30 years, Robert "Fuzzy Bob" Spratford has been the top law-enforcement officer in the mountain town of Ward, west of Boulder. He's had help from Peter "Skinny Pete" Lawrence and Norm "Tiny" Bowers. Trouble is, Spratford is the only one of the three certified by the state to do police work. With the retirement, Ward – well known for its fierce independence – may come under the jurisdiction of the Boulder County Sheriff. And that's not sitting too well with locals. Ryan Warner talks to reporter Christine Reid, who has covered the story for the Boulder Daily Camera.
