A settlement between state and federal officials in Utah resulted in the Department of the Interior agreeing not to conduct any new inventories that would decide whether certain federal lands have wilderness potential. Connie Brooks, a Denver-based attorney who represented Utah in the recent case, and Jeff Widen, associate director of the Colorado Environmental Coalition, share their perspectives on the settlement.
