More than 1,500 acres have burned this afternoon near Franktown southeast of Denver.
For some residents evacuated from the fire near Parker this hour brought good news. Officials lifted the evacuation order for the majority of homes north of the blaze. Many of those waiting around the edge of the closed area are making their way back home. The heavy clouds that blanketed the area earlier have cleared, bringing colder temperatures. Scores of fire crews from many different agencies are staging at Ponderosa High School, aided by two helicopters and two airplanes.
