Commuter Rail to Boulder, Longmont in Jeopardy

People can speak out Wednesday night about the fate of a long-awaited commuter rail line in Denver’s northwest metro area, which is now in jeopardy. Voters approved a one-percent sales tax in 2004 to fund an RTD expansion program called FasTracks. The plan included a rail line that would run through Boulder and end in Longmont. But a new cost estimate puts the price tag for the project at $1.7 billion, almost double the original estimate. RTD spokeswoman Pauletta Tonalis tells Colorado Public Radio’s Pat Mack about the three options now on the table. The meeting will be at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield. It starts at 6 p.m.
