Crews Watch for Flare-Ups in Pike Nat’l Forest

The Waldo Canyon Fire is 55% contained as of Monday afternoon, but the danger is far from over. The blaze has destroyed almost 350 homes and scorched nearly 18,000 acres, and it’s still burning. Even where there’s not active fire, firefighters are keeping a close eye out for possible flare-ups. Reporter Andrea Chalfin with KRCC in Colorado Springs recently donned flame-resistant clothing and a hard hat to join a media group allowed to visit burned areas of the Pike National Forest.
