Farmers and ranchers are asking Congress to help them weather this year’s severe drought that’s now affecting half the nation. The Rocky Mountain Farmers Union wants lawmakers to include disaster relief as part of this year’s Farm Bill. Lee Swenson is an executive vice president with the Farmer's Union. He says if differences over the Farm Bill can’t be resolved quickly, Congress should pass disaster relief in a separate bill. He tells CPR’s Pat Mack that the drought is the worst in decades.
