Friday Art Show Debuts with ‘Radio Dances’

Tiffany Wine and Ceth Stifel perform their Radio Dance

This Friday will mark CPR’s first weekly arts show, featuring “Radio Dances,” a multi-faceted project exploring how the visually oriented medium of dance translates to the airwaves.

“Radio Dances” was inspired by “This American Life” host Ira Glass and dance makers Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass who made a stop in Denver as part of their live storytelling and dance stage show.

CPR’s Arts Editor and host Chloe Veltman took their concept one step further, challenging local dance companies, students and members of the public to create 30- to 60-second dance pieces choreographed especially for the radio.

Tune to CPR News this Friday at 10:30 a.m. to hear how the project sounds. Check out www.cprnews.org to listen to audio performances and watch video of the dancers in the CPR Performance Studio.

The weekly arts show is the latest development of CPR’s newsroom expansion, which also includes an enhanced digital presence and the growth of “Colorado Matters” to an hour. The arts show is hosted by Chloe Veltman, with content fueled by arts reporters Ange-Aimée Woods and Corey Jones.
