There are a few places that, at first glance, may not seem historically significant.
For example there's the small post-World War II working-class neighborhood near the former Colorado Fuel and Iron Steel Mill in southeast Pueblo known as
Old Bojon Town. A recent survey found that a portion of the area is eligible for listing on the National Historic Register as a historic district.
Adam Thomas is the founder of Historitecture, historic preservation consultants who surveyed Pueblo’s Old Bojon Town. He and his colleagues have looked a few other unexpected historic places.
These include a review of
Quonset huts and so-called
Ghost Signs in Fort Collins and
Wondervu, a community in the mountains outside of Boulder initially designed in the 1920s.
Some of the interesting ghost signs in Fort Collins are:
- The Owl Cigar sign located at 113 South College Avenue
- The A.O. Scott Drug Company sign located at 121-127 South College Avenue
- The Angell's Delicatessen sign located at 220 East Mountain Avenue

A few interesting Quonset huts in Fort Collins are:
The unincorporated community of Wondervu is located at the highest point on Colorado State Highway 72, west of Arvada. When the historic survey was done, two of the properties in the area were considered eligible for listing on the National Historic Register.
