Now in its fourth year, the event isn't your grandfather's county fair, though there is a petting zoo.

This hipster's paradise features everything from freak shows to food trucks, and from mustache contests to air hockey competitions. And then there's the new Pot Pavilion.

OpenAir host Alisha Sweeney is a regular at the Fair. Listen to her interview with the event's entertainment director, Andrew Novick, above.

Alisha's Top Fair Picks:

  • 50th Anniversary of The Beatles at Red Rocks: A live, precise re-creation of the Fab Four's 1964 concert with same set list, outfits and equipment
  • "Robopera en el Spacio -- A Robot Opera": A multimedia performance with over 70 costumes and puppets
  • Eating competitions ranging from the everyday (hot dogs and pies) to the eccentric (bugs)
  • Miniature horse agility contest
  • Zombie beauty pageant
  • Unicorn rides
  • Pot Pavilion: The fair's most publicity-drawing areas includes "The Dark Side of Oz," "The Wizard of Oz" film synched up with Pink Floyd’s classic "Dark Side of the Moon" album. The Pot Pavilion also offers burlesque, joint rolling and Doritos eating competitions and 1970s folksters Brewer and Shipley performing "One Toke Over the Line" at 4:20 p.m. as the fair's finale.
