Title: HB15-1332 Income Tax Credit For Distributed Energy Resource Systems

Sponsors: Rep. Dan Pabon (D-Denver)

Status: Introduced and assigned to the House Transportation and Energy and Finance committees on April 1. The House Transportation Committee referred an amended version of the bill to the Finance Committee on April 16. The Finance Committee referred an amended version of the bill to the Appropriations Committee on April 22. The Appropriations Committee referred the bill to the whole House on April 30. The House passed its third reading on May 1 and the bill was assigned to the Senate finance and appropriations committees. The Finance Committee referred the bill to the Appropriations Committee on May 5. The Appropriations Committee killed the bill that day.

What the bill would have done: This bill creates a tax credit for consumers who install qualified wind, biomass and hydroelectric generators between January 2015 and January 2018. The credit is worth 30 percent of the taxpayer's total cost or $50,000, whichever is less.

How it would have affected your refund: This bill would have lessened the average taxpayer refund by 4 cents for fiscal year 2015-16.
