Illness prompts Rep. Buckner to miss final week of Legislature

The Democrats' narrow majority in the state House is getting narrower. Rep. John Buckner of Aurora has informed the House Speaker that he will miss the final week of session in order to prevent a long-standing respiratory condition from worsening. Buckner is an education leader in the House and was spearheading one of the major proposals to revise student testing. Other lawmakers have stepped up to advocate for that bill.
