Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is thanking supporters for electing him to a second term.
The Denver Post reports Hancock, who did not face much opposition in his re-election bid, told hundreds of cheering supporters Tuesday night that he would take aim at long-standing challenges in the growing city.
He said "we heard loud and clear that the people of Denver want four more years of progress," which includes more jobs, more housing and more opportunities for children.
His three challengers hadn't reported raising any money for the mail-in election that ended Tuesday evening. Hancock had about 80 percent of the vote.
The main competition in the election has been among candidates running for nine seats on the Denver City Council.
Voters also re-elected Debra Johnson as Denver’s clerk and recorder. Timothy O’Brien will be the next city auditor.
The official results show about a 33 percent voter turnout, among the city’s 400,000 registered voters.
