Carbondale is set to welcome Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter for an event at the Thunder River Theatre.

The Post Independent reports the couple's planned talk is scheduled for Tuesday evening and is expected to last about an hour. It took less than an hour for the tickets to sell out though.

The Carters arrive in Aspen on Tuesday in time for an event at the Aspen Institute before heading to Carbondale.

Thunder River Theatre director Lon Winston says people were able to grab tickets for only $20. About half of the 200 seats had already been held for benefactors and frequent attendees before tickets went on sale to the public.

The Roaring Fork Cultural Council has had many highly distinguished speakers in the past, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. But never before have they hosted a former president.
