Colorado casinos brought in $73 million in revenue to notch their best May ever, according to a report from the Colorado Department of Revenue.
Slots still made up the bulk of casino income, bringing in more than $64 million in May. But similar to other gambling states, revenue from slots has slowly trended down for years in Colorado.
The increased popularity of table games helps explain the new record numbers. Table games earned nearly $9 million, by far the best month since casinos opened here in the early 90s. Games like blackjack and poker are especially popular among younger gamblers.
Overall, it was a great month for Colorado’s casinos, which paid more than $13 million in taxes.
