Aurora's Democratic state Sen. Morgan Carroll says she'll challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman for his seat in Colorado's 6th Congressional District. Former Small Business Administration head Greg Lopez also announced this week that he’s planning to run against U.S. Senator Michael Bennet.

Carroll, who is a party leader in the state Senate, announced her candidacy Tuesday for a district that both parties consider a toss-up because of its large bloc of unaffiliated voters. But Coffman has proven to be a formidable opponent, fending off his two previous opponents with ease.
