Murder Charge Dropped For Man In Frisco Beating Death Case

A judge has granted a motion to drop murder charges against a man who had been accused of beating another man to death at a Frisco motel.

The Summit Daily News reports 43-year-old Charles Sattler is now charged only with first-degree assault in the death of 38-year-old Blake Bostic.

Sattler is accused of getting into a fight with Bostic in April 2014. Bostic died hours later from blunt force trauma to the head.

Sattler's attorneys have said he was acting to protect a friend who was fighting with Bostic, but they lost a bid to have the case thrown out under Colorado's "Make My Day" law.

Sattler's previous trial ended in a mistrial in June after jurors couldn't reach a verdict.

His new trial is set for Sept. 23.
