Black Hills Energy Makes Deal For $100M Wind Farm

Black Hills Energy, a major electric utility for southern Colorado, has struck a deal for a $100 million wind farm in Huerfano and Las Animas counties.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports the Peak View Wind Project, if approved by regulators, would be built by Inverenergy Wind Development Colorado LLC then sold to Black Hills.

Customers will help foot the bill in raised fees immediately, but the utility will delay raising rates for 10 years.

Colorado law requires large utilities to get 20 percent of their power from renewable sources.
