A University of Colorado alumnus will serve as one of the moderators of the upcoming Republican debate on the CU-Boulder campus.

The Daily Camera reports that CNBC's Carl Quintanilla, co-anchor of "Squawk on the Street" and "Squawk Alley," Becky Quick, co-anchor of "Squawk Box," and John Harwood, the network's chief Washington correspondent, will serve as moderators for the debate on Oct. 28.

Quintanilla graduated from CU-Boulder in 1993 with a political science degree.

Joe Kernen will co-host programming leading up to the debate. Kernen graduated in 1978 with a degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology.

CNBC announced Wednesday that candidates must score at least 1 percent in national polls to participate. Candidates who score an average of 3 percent among five national polls will be invited to the prime-time debate.
