A similar flight between Denver and the Bavarian city was cut in 2008 because of low demand.
'The return of direct flights to Munich displays just how important the Denver market is to our airline," Juergen Siebenrock, vice president of the Americas at Lufthansa German Airlines, said in a press release.
The new flight is estimated to generate 700 new jobs and $24 million in new wages for the state, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said.
