DA Says Denver Police Justified In Shooting Of Armed Teen

Prosecutors say two Denver police officers were justified when they shot an armed teenager following a carjacking.

The Denver Post reports 19-year-old Kylear Antonio Williams was wounded in the Aug. 22 shooting after police say he flashed a gun at them. Williams was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in an earlier armed carjacking in Aurora.

Investigators say that when police found the vehicle, the three people inside, including Williams, fled.

One of the officers says he shot Williams when "he kind of started coming up with the gun."

Williams, who was 18 at the time of the shooting, was struck by two bullets and suffered wounds to both hands, his upper back, shoulder, neck, cheek and jaw. He has been charged with felony menacing.
