A new campaign against homelessness in the Denver area aims to mobilize metro area residents to address the problem. The effort, called Close to Home, kicked off Thursday morning with the mayors of Denver and Aurora and other partners in the program.
"People thought it was a really really important issue to do something about," said the Denver Foundation's Rebecca Arno. "But they felt like they didn’t really have a role in taking action."
A poll commissioned by the foundation earlier this year found almost half the Metro area residents surveyed had a friend or relative who has been homeless.
"This is not an issue that affects other people; it affects all of us. We are all connected to the people who are having this challenge," Arno said.
