Former Festival Publicist To Helm The Denver Film Society

Denver Film Society starting in March. The organization announced Wednesday that Andrew Rodgers will serve as its next executive director.

"His knowledge of film, his business acumen and his ability to attract support for film organizations will help us expand our reach even further," Denver Film Society festival director Britta Erickson said in a statement.

Since 2005, Rogers served as executive director for the RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The organization received more than 100 applicants for the job from 22 states and Canada.

A former Chicago Tribune writer, Rodgers went on to work as a publicist for the Sundance Film and the Chicago International Film festivals. The filmmaker has previous ties to the Denver Film Society. Rodgers served as a juror during the 2008 Denver Film Festival and returned in 2014 to screen his short documentary "Crooked Candy."
