Colorado Facing Big Penalty After Missing Welfare Deadline

Colorado is facing more than $6 million in penalties after missing another federal welfare deadline.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services put the state on notice that it failed to meet an employment participation requirement for the Colorado Works program in 2013. State lawmakers are worried the state may also miss the 2014 and 2015 requirements.
