The Colorado Department of Human Services says it has cleared a backlog of inmates who had been waiting for court-ordered mental health evaluations and treatment.
The Denver Post reports the department said in a letter to Disability Law Colorado that an increase in staff and other changes has helped eliminate the list of inmates waiting for services.
The department still faces a lawsuit alleging it violated a 2012 settlement agreement by allowing the wait list to form. The agreement stemmed from the law center's 2011 lawsuit claiming the department failed to provide timely evaluations and treatment for inmates not yet convicted of their charges.
A judge agreed to reopen the case in December.
Attorney Iris Eytan says the law center is still investigating whether the backlog has been cleared.
