Sky Sox Owners Consider Move To Texas

The owners of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox say they are considering moving the Triple-A team to San Antonio.

The Gazette reports in a story Tuesday that the Elmore Sports Group noted in a statement that San Antonio is considering building a downtown ballpark. Elmore owns the Double-A San Antonio Missions, which would move if Triple-A came to the city.

Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers told The Gazette that the Sky Sox informed him in September of talks with San Antonio and could move in two or three years. Recently, a survey indicated voters would reject investing in a downtown baseball stadium in Colorado Springs, where the Sky Sox have played since 1988.

The Sky Sox have been affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers since the Colorado Rockies parted with them.
