Police blocked off Norlin Quad at the University of Colorado in Boulder, in April 2012 to prevent the annual 4/20 celebration.

The Daily Camera reports that the University of Colorado in Boulder's Norlin Quad once drew 10,000 people for a 4:20 p.m. smoke-out. The celebration earned CU a top slot on Playboy's party school list.

But officials began cracking down on the festival in 2012 and say they expect this April 20 to be a normal Wednesday on campus. Spokesman Ryan Huff says there will be a police presence but the school doesn't anticipate any problems.

Officials have pointed out that students can attend sanctioned, pot-centric events in the Denver metro area.

CU students a more academic interest in marijuana can attend the campus' third annual Cannabis Symposium.
