The lieutenant governor does not have a lot of duties. Gov. John Hickenlooper has asked Lynne to serve as the state’s chief operating officer; she will also chair the Colorado Commission on Indian Affairs.

"For me this is going to be a big learning experience. I have not had anything in my past like this, and I’m very sensitive to the issues the Indians are facing," Lynne told CPR’s Colorado Matters in a lengthy conversation.

She says one of the first things she’ll do is meet with Colorado’s tribes in the Four Corners region.

Hickenlooper has two years left in his term. Lynne says she has no intention of running for governor.
