At Least 122,000 Guns Bought Between January And April In Colorado

Gun sales continue to climb in Colorado: At least 14,000 more guns have been sold this year compared to the same time last year -- that works out to about 122,000 guns in the first four months.

The data comes from a count of background checks reported by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. A lot of the increase can be traced back to a big January -- after high profile shootings in San Bernardino and Colorado Springs.

This is the second busiest start to a year for Colorado gun sellers on record, behind only 2013. That year, mass shootings in Aurora and Newtown, Conn., prompted an unprecedented run on firearms.
