A 27-year-old massage therapist from Larimer County will challenge U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse for his seat in Congress.
The Associated Press declared Kelley Dennison the winner in the Republican Primary Election to represent Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.
She beat Christina Blunt, a Fort Collins-based hairdresser and small business owner who wanted to bring Elon Musk's DOGE-style cost-cutting efforts to the state level in Colorado.
At 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dennison led Blunt by more than 4,000 votes, winning with nearly 59% of the vote.
Dennison’s platform is focused on environmental conservation and immigration.
The state’s 2nd Congressional District covers land in north-central Colorado, including rural ranches, ski areas, and parts of the Front Range urban corridor, which includes the college towns of Boulder and Fort Collins.
The district is heavily left-leaning and has been represented since 2019 by Congressman Neguse, Colorado’s first Black U.S. congressman. Neguse ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and is considered a safe incumbent.
