Editorial Policy Position Including Federal Funding

In January 1995, the CPR Board passed a resolution regarding public policy debates, triggered by the Board’s interest in highlighting CPR’s role as an honest broker of information, a role not compromised by taking editorial positions.

The following resolution was originally approved by the Board in 1995, reviewed and affirmed in 2005 and 2011 and updated in 2017:

Colorado Public Radio’s role is to give its listeners fair and intelligent coverage of complex issues. Colorado Public Radio will not take editorial positions on these public policy debates, including the issue of continued federal funding for public broadcasting. Whatever the outcome of this particular debate, Colorado Public Radio is confident that it will continue to provide the highest quality noncommercial programming possible.
