CALL FOR WORKS: The Playground Ensemble: RemoteLab 2.0 [applications due Jan. 21]

The Playground Ensemble is accepting proposals for musical and multimedia creative works designed specifically for the features and limitations of online conferencing platforms.

Instrumentation can include any combination of violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, piano, percussion, voice, electronics. The collaborator(s) are welcome to direct, coach, perform with, or simply observe the final performance(s).

Preference will be given to works that comment on the current state of affairs in the world (the pandemic and its effects, protest movements around the world, what our lives might look like when things are ‘back to normal’).

Selected collaborators will be given two workshops/rehearsals, a streamed performance, and a possible micro commission of $200. Decisions will be made by mid-February with an anticipated performance in late February.

“Although we absolutely welcome proposals for large scale ideas, we envision these as smaller works. That said, we are open to larger projects that would occur on an extended time frame so if you have a larger scale idea you would like to discuss, please send it!”
