Sphere Ensemble: Kaleidoscope

"Sphere Ensemble presents Kaleidoscope, an exploration of American music. This program will feature an exciting string orchestra version of a work by American Indian (Chickasaw) classical composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, a dramatic atonal classical work by Chinese-born American composer Tan Dun, Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte an absurd and subtle riff on the classical minuet and trio, as well as a lively Juba from Florence Price’s second string quartet. We will also bring back two favorite Sphere pop pieces, 'At Last' and our amazing Prince Medley, as well as two brand new Sphere arrangements, a classic by Randy Newman and a Sphere version of a Scott Joplin rag. This concert program focuses on the wide range of what 'American' music is: with composers from diverse backgrounds, genres from classical to pop, and arrangements written by Sphere musicians specifically for the group."
