Canon City School District Investigating Nude Photos

A Canon City School District investigation into students sending nude pictures has resulted in the forfeiture of a football game and police involvement.

The Canon City Daily Record reports the district said in a news release Wednesday that student reports and anonymous tips alerted administrators to the alleged student misconduct.

The case has been handed over to the police department. District officials say police will focus their investigation to determine if any adults were involved and whether any photos were coerced.

The district said several Canon City High football players have been connected to the alleged activity, resulting in this weekend's football game being cancelled.

Superintendent George Welsh says the students involved will face consequences. Suspensions are in progress.

District and police investigations are ongoing.
