People driving around the Capitol honk and cheer in celebrattion of Joe Biden’s victory in the U.S. presidential election. Nov. 7, 2020.

Okay, yes, we wrapped up this season of Purplish last week, with our three sleep deprived hosts trying to break down what the heck had happened in that blur of Senate results and ballot measures.

This week, with the benefit of a bit more time, Bente Birkeland and Caitlyn Kim return to the mics to pick the brains of two special guests: Democratic strategist Craig Hughes and Republican strategist Josh Penry. They talk about why Colorado's big blue wave at the top of the ticket was more of a wash out further down, why Democrats shouldn't rest easy, and how, here in Colorado, this election's biggest surprise was no surprise at all.

This episode of Purplish was produced by Jon Pinnow and Peter Creamer. The show is edited by Megan Verlee. Our executive producer is Rachel Estabrook. CPR’s head of audio innovations is Brad Turner, who also composed our theme music.
