Until recently, there wasn’t anything remarkable about the Cameo power plant east of Grand Junction. Except, maybe that it’s nearing the end of its life. It's more than 50 years old and is slated to be shut down later this year. But before that happens, the aging coal and gas plant gets a moment in the sun - literally. Workers with Xcel Energy, the state’s largest utility, have installed a new solar technology alongside the old plant, boosting its efficiency.
