Chart: Caregivers available in Colorado in coming decades AARP
The AARP predicts that as members of Colorado's baby boomer population reach 80 years or older, fewer caregivers will be available to help them age in their homes.

Hundreds of thousands of Coloradans care for their aging parents at home. That care is essential to helping them age at home, rather than, say, in nursing care. But the number of people available to provide home care -- including family members -- is in decline, according to AARP. The issue has particular importance in Colorado, which has one of the fastest growing populations of people over 65 in the nation.

Susan Reinhard, a registered nurse who heads AARP's Public Policy Institute, spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
