For about 90 years, the National Association of Negro Musicians has supported the musical careers of young African-Americans. The association also has the broader mission of preserving and advocating for African American music. And starting Sunday, the group will hold its annual convention in Colorado Springs. Four Colorado musicians will be honored: bassist Charles Burrell, Spirituals Project founder Arthur Jones, Opera Theatre of the Rockies founder Martile Rowland, and Colorado Springs organist John Bowen. Ryan Warner speaks with the president of the NANM, David Morrow.
